EMSSI are kicking off their 2016 Inaugural Meeting with mini (not-so) Freshers Fair – the Irish Red Cross and the Order of Malta are coming to rustle up some volunteers. They’ll be camped outside Tercentenary from 7pm, with their fancy life-saving equipment and super-cool hi-vis jackets. They’ll be talking to us about training as a Emergency Service Provider — and all the cool places it can take you. Imagine yourself, pitch-side at Croke Park, road-side at the Dublin Marathon, side-stage at Electric Pinic and – of course – bog-side at the National Ploughing Championships. The opportunities are endless!

And if that wasn’t incentive enough — Our Honorary President Dr George Little, will be speaking from 7:30pm about life as a bad-ass Emergency Medicine consultant. There’ll be a quick Q&A session after his talk — Please submit any and all questions to our Twitter account @EMSSIreland

And did we mention FREE FOOD? — In true EMSSI tradition, we’ll resuscitate that education-induced hypoglycaemia with a baked good bombardment. There’ll be brownies, and there’ll be milk, and there’ll be more brownies. It will make The Great British Bake Off look like amateur hour.

And a further reminder — The NUIG Emergency Medicine Society are hosting a Live-Stream of Dr Little’s Inaugural Lecture for all interested students in Galway. There’ll be some hands-on clinical skills session and, of course, free food
